MRS. RHEAD DEAD

Phoebe Cathrine Gregory was born in Delaware (County, New York), December 20, 1839 and died Sunday evening, February 18, 1915, at 10:00 p.m. She came to Michigan with her parents when 15 years old. She was married to Truman R. Rhead, October 20, 1856 in Wayne County, Michigan. Nine years later they came to Merrillan, Wisconsin, later moving to Garden Valley. For the last five years she has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Dunn of Garden Valley. Thirteen children were born to them, of which eleven are living, viz: Irvin Rhead of Alma Center, John Rhead of North Branch, Cora Burnett of Hixton, Hillard Rhead of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Eliza Dunn of Hixton, Amanda Duxbury of Hixton, Sid Rhead of Canton, South Dakota, Bertha Amundson of Hixton, Harriet Dunn of Alma Center, William Rhead of Granton, Wisconsin. Her husband and two sons, Hugh and Lee, passed to the great beyond before her. Deceased was a kind, loving wife and mother, with a cheerful disposition at all times. The funeral service was held from the Methodist church, Wednesday, March 3, Rev. A.R. Kline officiating and interment was made in the village cemetery. The sorrowing ones have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

OBITUARY

Irvin, Harriett and Fannie of Alma Center; Cora, Eliza, Manda and Bertha of Hixton; Hillard of Menomonie, Wis.; Sid of Canton, South Dakota; and Will of Granton, Wisconsin. Her husband and two sons, Hugh and Lee, passed to the great beyond before her. Funeral services were held in the Alma Center M.E. church on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. A.R. Kline officiating. Interment was made in the village cemetery. For the past seven years Mrs. Rhead has been in failing health and has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Dunn, in Garden Valley. For the past two weeks she has been failing and died on Sunday evening, February 28, 1915. She leaves besides the eleven children, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Williams of Texas and Mrs. Sarah Durlin of this place, and one brother, Will Gregory of Humbird. Mrs. Rhead was an exemplary woman and one of the sturdy pioneers of this vicinity. Her children rise up and call her blessed, while her friends were numberless. The many friends of the family extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.
