• In 1870, there is a 4 year old girl named EVA BUCK who is living in the household. EVA was the daughter of HENRY G. BUCK and ALZADIA WOODARD CEASE. She was sent to live with her uncle after the death of her father.
• On the 1840 census for Orange, Steuben County, New York, there is a male between 10-15 yrs. old living in the household. I thought this could possibly be William's brother, Gideon, but Gideon appears to be living with his father, Ebenezer. Who is the child living with William? William's wife, Susan, would have been 8-13 years old when this child was born so she is not the mother. There is also a male under 5 yrs. old living in the household, and the census shows William's wife as being between 30-40 yrs. of age. Susan Hammer's age in 1840 would be 23 so this woman isn't Susan Hammer. This census supports others claims that William had a first wife and that Susan was his 2nd wife.
• There is a 13 yr. old male living in the Ebenezer Buck household in 1850 named William L. Buck. I believe this to be William C. Buck's son by his first wife.

Noah's obituary states that he is survived by three adult children but he and Eliza had four children. I know John is alive in 1900 and I believe Gideon is as well. I'm not sure about the two daughters so one of them obviously dies before Noah.

Notes for GIDEON L. BUCK
GIDEON'S obituary states he had no children. However, on the 1860 census, there is a child named Jane Buck (age 6) living in the household. On the 1870 census this child's name is listed as Jennie and is shown as 16 yrs. old. Nancy Hicks sent me an e-mail regarding ALZADA WOODARD/SEASE that helps explain this Jane/Jennie Buck. She states: "ALZADA WOODARD/SEASE married HENRY G. BUCK and it was her second marriage. She had children previous and JENNIE was her daughter. ALZADA'S children were farmed out after the divorce of her first husband. Her daughter MARY SEASE was sent to live with LYDIA McCONNELL and her husband, ELI G. McCONNELL. MARY SEASE was born in 1846, DANIEL SEASE in 1849 and JENNIE SEASE was born in 1854. I know that DANIEL was sent to live with a Mr. PARSHALL but I never knew where JENNIE was sent to live. ALZADA married HENRY in 1858. When HENRY died in 1868, her young children living at home were once again sent to live with relatives."

She married WILLIAM TOTTEN December 13, 1848 in Watkins Glen, Schuyler County, New York. He was born August 26, 1824 in New Jersey and died August 9, 1914 in Watkins Glen, Schuyler County, New York.

George apparently fell on hard times as he was living in the Bradford County Alms House in 1920. His two children, MARY and LEROY are living with their sister, LYTTA and her husband. However, he is shown living in his own home in 1930 in Monroe, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

JOSEPH THOMAS BUCK (HENRY G. BUCK²) was born 1868 in Tioga County, Pennsylvania and died unknown. I located him in 1910 in Talent, Jackson County, Oregon. He is listed as widowed so he was married at some point but he isn't shown with any children. He is apparently living and working in some kind of timber camp or sawmill as there are many men listed with him and they are listed as living with a "partner" which obviously is a co-worker. In 1920, in West Talent, Jackson County, Oregon, JOSEPH is shown living with two daughters. I haven't been able to locate his daughters in 1910.

Register of Births, Volume 1, From Courthouse Records, Wellsboro, PA, shows a fifth child for ALBERT and MARGARET. The child's name was LENA and she didn't live very long. The 1900 census shows MARGARET having four children with three still living. This would be the case if LENA died before the 1900 census.
